Education & Training
The Education & Training team provide affordable, accessible, short and distance learning courses in dementia care across the UK and internationally. We employ a person-centred philosophy of care in our training and work with a team of associates who are experienced practitioners from a range of backgrounds including care home management, nursing, social work and family caring.
| If you earn £22,000 or less per year you may be eligible for ILA funding, contact ILA Scotland for more details. |
Short courses at the Iris Murdoch Building
Attending a seminar or training course in Stirling will provide the opportunity to experience a building specifically designed for people with dementia. The Centre also has a permanent display of assistive technology in two demonstration rooms.
Workplace-based training
Workplace–based training allows managers to tailor a specific course to the training needs of the staff team. Each course is planned in consultation with the manager so that a jointly agreed proposal with an evaluation of the impact is agreed before the training starts. We will travel to you to deliver the training course. Click here for more information on the courses we can offer. Please contact us to discuss your specific workplace training requirements.
The Best Practice Project
These successful projects are 6-month programmes for healthcare assistants or care home staff. Click here for more information.
Undergraduate and Postgraduate Distance Learning Programmes
These 15 week courses are designed for those who wish to devote time to study at a distance. Access to a computer with broadband access is a course requirement. These courses provide a benchmark for a specialist dementia knowledge.
