The University of Stirling is recruiting participants to be involved in an innovative new study funded by the Abbeyfield Society, called Moving Memories.
Moving Memories is a pilot study, in conjunction with Insightful Moves, about the experience of moving into care or sheltered housing. The study uses film to follow this significant time in their life.
The study will look at how people manage this important transition, particularly what people do when faced with the need to down-size their home and contents. In doing so, what can then be done to enhance the care and support people receive through sharing this knowledge.
What does the process involve?
Participants invite one of the team into their home, prior to moving, to make a home-movie. In this small film, they are the tour guide of their home and show what they want and what is important to them: the stories behind their favourite things, their hobbies and habits. The participant will then receive a copy for them to keep and share, and seek their permission to share it with future support staff too. The aim is that in sharing this movie, the care, understanding and support they receive will be enhanced.
