September 2016 will mark the fifth global World Alzheimer’s Month™, an international campaign to raise awareness and challenge stigma.
Each year, Alzheimer associations from around the world unite to organise advocacy and information provision events, as well as Memory Walks and fundraising days.
The impact of this campaign is growing, but the stigmatisation and misinformation that surrounds dementia remains a global issue. Every 3 seconds, someone in the world develops dementia. September is a time for action, a global movement united by its call for change, but it is also a time to reflect on the impact of dementia, a condition that will affect more and more people as the years pass.
During September DSDC will be publishing daily blogs on living with, caring and designing for dementia.
World Alzheimer’s Month is coordinated by Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI), the umbrella organisation of Alzheimer associations around the world.
