The Dementia UK awards 2009

The Dementia UK Awards 2009 were organised by the Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC). The awards provided an opportunity to celebrate the important work undertaken to support people with dementia in the UK. They were designed to recognise organisations and individuals who have worked to improve the quality of life for people with dementia.

Nominations were made for the following categories.

  • Best innovation in practice
  • Dementia design innovation of the year
  • Dementia nurse of the year
  • Outstanding contribution to the field of dementia
  • Team of the year
  • Unsung hero
  • Volunteer of the year

    Individuals and organisations nominated themselves or nominated by a third party for an award. The Dementia nurse of the year, Unsung hero and Volunteer of the Year awards required nomination by a third party. 

    The awards were presented as part of the DSDC's 3rd International Conference, Facing the Future. They took place as part of the conference dinner at York Racecourse, York, on the 15 September 2009.
