Leadership and Management in Dementia Care: Aspiring to Excellence Programme

The Effective Leadership for Dementia Care Services Programme has been designed to share best practice for leaders and managers working in dementia care settings across health and social care, private organisations and the third sector. DSDC is the only centre to offer specially-designed training for those with leadership and management responsibility for dementia.

Each programme consists of two 2-day sessions with a workplace project in between. The training can take place at Stirling, Belfast, London or at a venue of your choice.

Best Practice in Dementia Care Programme

The Best Practice in Dementia Care Programme is a six part self-study course for front-line staff. DSDC trains a member of the hospital staff to act as a facilitator to deliver this programme to eight staff members using a cascade approach. This course is accredited by the RCN and City & Guilds and is on the SCQF credit framework.

Recent examples in the UK have included front-line dementia diagnosis and support across professional boundaries; dementia pathway and awareness raising in A&E and ward settings; environmental redesign training for estates and ward staff; induction for junior doctors.

The Training Directory gives full details of the training and education available for all levels of staff, including non-clinical staff.
