Q: When does the programme run?
There are 2 intakes each year: February and September.
Q: What are the range of options available?
The programme is offered as a series of modules and there are a range of possible qualifications:
- 1 year - Certificate
- 2 years - Diploma
- 3 years - MSc
In each year of the programme, students undertake two modules. We also offer some modules on a standalone basis.
Q: How long does each module last?
Each module lasts for 15 weeks. Students attend the University of Stirling for 1 or 2 days at the beginning followed by 10 weeks of online learning. Students have a mid-semester break and two weeks of independent study to prepare for their assignments.
Q: What is the cost of the modules?
In the academic year 2010/2011, each module costs £815.
Q: What is the assessment process?
There are two written assignments per module - the first is a 2,500 word assignment which is due in the first 5 weeks of the module and the second a 4,000 word assignment due in at the end.
Q: What if I am unsure if I will meet the entry requirements?
All students should have an undergraduate degree and experience of working with people with dementia. We will consider applicants with extensive experience and other qualifications equivalent to a degree. The best advice is to apply so that your application can be considered in full. For those people who do not meet our entry requirements there are undergraduate modules which provide an access route for the postgraduate programme. Information can be found at our website.
