Broadmeadow, Folkestone

Award: Gold

Broadmeadow is a two storey residential home in Folkestone providing a set of services for older people and those with a physical disability. Twenty bedrooms are for intermediate care, fifteen are for frail older people needing respite, five flatlets are for those with a physical disability requiring respite and eight beds are for crisis respite for older people with dementia or a related illness.

The Dementia Suite was open in May 2011. There is a day centre for 15 people with dementia on the first floor which has easy access to outside, having a balcony at each side.

Both the dementia respite suite and the day centre have excellent domestic kitchen areas. In both there is a choice of different areas for people with dementia, and these are easy for staff to supervise. There is a genuinely domestic ambience in both areas.
