Training for Dementia Design

DSDC provides high-impact training and education opportunities on design for dementia, including its signature Intersection of Dementia + Design course

Feedback from the team following the recent 2 day training session has been excellent, they now feel not only well equipped but also inspired to make changes to our housing to ensure the environment is enabling for people with dementia to allow them to live alone independently for as long as possible.

Case studies

I attended the Intersection of Dementia + Design training course in 2019 and found the depth of the training provided over the two days both comprehensive and inspiring. I now class myself as an advocate / champion for good dementia design within my organisation. I have already put much of the learning into practice, as well as spending time raising awareness amongst colleagues to convert them too.

I am currently working as part of a team to deliver an ambitious adult social care capital programme. I am now using the knowledge I gained from the course on a weekly basis to influence the design of the new builds from initial concept through to detailed design stage.

I now feel more confident to challenge design decisions that are not in the best interests of people living with dementia and I am continuing to raise awareness amongst colleagues from all parts of the council and partner organisations.

I can honestly say that the course truly did impact on my practice which will lead to improved lives for people living with dementia in Kirklees.
