Environments for ageing and dementia

Research tells us that age-friendly environments can help foster healthy and active ageing by building and maintaining cognitive capacities across the course of our lives. This is increasingly more important as the global population is ageing. As stakeholders in ageing, we can all make a real impact on the places and spaces in which we live, work, and play.

It is for this reason that DSDC has developed a new tool for designing for dementia and ageing. Environments for Ageing and Dementia Design Assessment Tool (EADDAT) empowers everyone to make a change and receive recognition of your efforts, no matter how small.

EADDAT will replace DSDC’s current Dementia Design Audit Tool (DDAT), reflecting the advances in our understanding of dementia design since the original tool’s inception in 2008. The new tool is designed to be more accessible and covers an array of building typologies. Whether you are a person living with dementia, a small business owner or commissioning a new care home, there is a version of EADDAT available to support you and your journey.

DSDC is thrilled to be able to offer this ground-breaking tool and we can’t wait to share it with you soon. We will share launch details with you shortly, but for now, read more about EADDAT and its’ tiers.
